Out for public comment: Corporate technical guidance on science-based targets for nature
On September 15, the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN), part of the Global Commons Alliance, opened a month-long public consultation period for its corporate technical guidance on science-based targets (SBTs) for nature.
This pioneering guidance will provide companies with detailed methodologies to assess and prioritize their impacts on nature, and enable them to progress to setting targets first on freshwater quantity and quality.
Once finalized, it will form the basis of SBTN’s first release of science-based targets (SBTs) for nature in early 2023, which will include initial target-setting resources on freshwater as well as land to complement those on climate from the Science Based Targets initiative.
This public consultation marks a critical point in the development of SBTs for nature. It is the public’s opportunity to provide input into SBTN’s multi-stakeholder process to ensure the final guidance to companies is as robust, clear and practical as possible.
