This COP27, some of the world’s biggest civil society groups are coming together in a global effort to raise the profile of action to protect, manage and restore natural ecosystems for the benefit of the world’s peoples, the climate and biodiversity.

This first SBTN guidance (download here) defines how companies can assess, prioritize, measure, address and track their impacts and dependencies on nature in line with science.

Ahead of the first release of science-based targets for nature v1 in early 2023, Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) is seeking public comment on its technical guidance for companies to set science-based targets for nature, with a focus on helping companies assess and prioritize their environmental impacts to then set targets, beginning with freshwater.

Together we’ll be asking and answering the question: “How can we become planetary stewards?”.
