Global Commons Alliance Launches Funder Learning Cohort on Climate and Systems Change for Autumn 2026

The Global Commons Alliance is launching a new nature and climate funder learning program, Funding Toward a Just World on a Safe Planet, opening applications for its first cohort this Autumn 2026.
Specifically, the five-session virtual series will help funders connect portfolios such as climate, nature, food, and health to the wider systems driving lasting change. Throughout, the GCA Secretariat will convene and facilitate the series, drawing on expertise from members such as the Earth Commission, Planetary Health Alliance, Systems Change Lab, and Climate Spring.
What the Program Covers
Overall, participants will gain a systemic view of the Earth, key frameworks, and real-world case studies, including:
- An interconnected view of the Earth system — and where your portfolio sits inside it
- An understanding of the leading scientific frameworks, economic models and what they agree on
- A perspective of the key levers, where progress is real, and where it has stalled
- Viable options for engaging with and supporting systems change
- Case studies of what’s working across science, culture, governance, and the economy
- A structured reflection on your own portfolio, in dialogue with peers
- Lasting relationships with other funders navigating the same questions.
Funder Learning Program Arc
Together this nature and climate funder learning program feeds into a structured, peer-informed reflection on participants’ own portfolios. In turn, it helps them consider what this insight might mean for their work.
Ultimately it’s designed to help funders connect their grantmaking with a broader portfolio of work toward coordinated, systemic impact. Beyond that, it aims to help funders build lasting relationships with peers asking the same questions.
