Global Commons Alliance at WEF 2026

13/01/2026

The Global Commons Alliance – including Arctic Basecamp, Open Planet and Climate Bridges – will be at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos to collaborate across civil society, philanthropy, business networks and science toward a just world on a safe planet. See events that Alliance members and partners will be hosting or engaged with below.

As 2026 begins with environmental devastation across Indonesia, Australia and beyond while the US withdraws from critical international treaties and institutions including the UNFCCC, we must remember that Earth Commission science has identified the Safe and Just Space – within which harm to humans and nature can be minimized while everyone can be provided for – and that companies and cities have a crucial role in helping get us there.

This vision must be deeply understood and shared by leaders gathering at the WEF in Davos, at this decisive moment in history. Since safe and just science first took centre-stage at Davos in 2023, we again put the spotlight on science’s vital role in shaping global decision-making at an event last year organized by Arctic Basecamp with Earth Commission, Future Earth, University of Exeter and Earth4All. You can find out what Alliance members are doing this year below, and if you would like more information contact us.
