The Alliance is supported in its day-to-day operations by the Global Commons Alliance Secretariat.
As well as facilitation and coordination of activities including fundraising, events and communications, the Secretariat ensures that inclusive participation and collaboration are embedded in all Alliance processes.

Sebastian Schienle is Director of Partnerships and Programmes for Global Commons Alliance. Sebastian brings broad experience from across the private and philanthropic sectors, including as Founder and Head of Research for Effektiv Spenden, an effective giving platform and advisory in Germany, and at McKinsey & Company’s Sustainability Practice, Benckiser Foundation and JDE Peet’s, amongst others.

Will has 16 years of experience in developing and delivering national and global policy, advocacy and communications campaigns to engage diverse audiences with social and environmental causes. Will previously worked at the Wellcome Trust, where he was the Strategic Communications and Engagement Lead for climate and health, and mental health. He has also worked for Save the Children, VSO and Oxfam.

Mark Kiprotich is the Finance Lead at Global Commons Alliance. He brings over eight years experience in non profit finance and grants management in the conservation sector. In his role at GCA, he leads organizational budgeting, financial management and supports fundraising initiatives. Prior to joining GCA, he served in various finance roles at Conservation International Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and African Wildlife Foundation. Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Accounting Diploma. He is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Clare leads on digital content strategy and social media for Global Commons Alliance. She has worked in global climate communications for over 15 years, including for The Climate Group, the Commonwealth Secretariat and the UK agency Greenhouse. She also regularly volunteers for environmental, human rights, anti-racism and climate activism groups in her local community.

The Global Commons Alliance is a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. It is overseen by a Board representing its members. Board members are elected for a period of two years by the annual Members Assembly.
