Where to find Global Commons Alliance at Climate Week NYC 2023

Senior representatives of the Global Commons Alliance will be in New York for Climate Week NYC, which takes place from 17 to 24 September 2023

Below is an overview of the events we are either hosting, attending or speaking at, to engage with the global climate and nature community.

Beyond Climate Week NYC, you can also join us at the UN General Assembly and COP28, where GCA’s core components – Systems Change Lab, Science Based Targets Network, Earth Commission, Accountability Accelerator and Earth HQ – will continue mobilizing the community to become better guardians of the global commons. Twelve sector-specific overviews will be launched which outline the key impacts and dependencies, and priority actions companies can take to contribute towards a nature-positive economy by 2030.


  • Horizon Media A New Era In Climate Communications – White Paper Launch

Organized by New Zero World and Earth HQ

“A New Era In Climate Communications” is a huge collaborative effort spanning over 60 contributors and 300 pages in the form of our accessible digital knowledge hub which will go live on September 18, to mark the start of New York Climate Week.

Organized by UN High-Level Climate Champions, Nature4Climate, in collaboration with the Finance and Deforestation Advisory Group, with support of Systemiq

Convening key stakeholders from the finance sector, this event will make the case for how private finance can drive the transition to a net zero, resilient, equitable and nature positive economy – and explore scaling private capital in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

  • Nature Positive for Climate Action business roundtable

Organized by Global Commons Alliance, UN High-Level Climate Champions, BCG

Ahead of COP28 this event aims to mobilize business and financial institutions to include nature into their climate actions.


Organized by Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), WWF and Science Based Targets Network

An insightful session with experts from different sectors and backgrounds, who will share their perspectives and experiences on how corporates and financial institutions can adopt transition strategies, set targets and deploy actions to safeguard nature, mitigate risks, and seize opportunities.

Wednesday 20

Organized by South Pole

The event will focus on the importance of corporate biodiversity action in the context of global sustainability goals, and provide insights into how companies and governments are aligning their efforts with the 30×30 goal. It will explore the implementation of frameworks like TNFD and SBTN, and their impact on risk management and corporate practices. Participants will also discuss progress and challenges in the development of a global transactional unit for Biodiversity Credit.

This event will be broadcast as part of the Climate Hub, which covers a wide array of topics ranging from climate litigation, arts and climate, transportation, sustainable infrastructure, fashion, health, communications and more.

Interactive roundtable session diving into science-based targets for nature, answering common questions including getting started with the methods, best practices and shared learnings, tools and resources available, and clarity on how target setting fits in with other frameworks and initiatives. The session will also provide companies with an opportunity to connect with peers and hear perspectives from different business sectors on how best to engage in target setting.


Organized by Global Commons Alliance’s Accountability Accelerator, Transparency and Accountability Initiative

This event will explore how to put in place an accountability infrastructure for nature by COP30 in Belem, and the role of funders in accelerating nature action by companies and financial institutions and ensuring accountability.


Organized by Nature4Climate

Social reception where members of the Nature Positive Initiative – representing environmental NGOs, civil society, sustainable business platforms, research institutes, Indigenous Peoples and local government – will speak about the imperative of the Nature Positive goal, reflecting on both the opportunities and challenges ahead.
